TOK-Art

The day started with a few book presentations and after that our teacher gave us a brief introduction to the TOK Art programme and an overview of what we had planned for the day. We discussed the ethics of art and what our definition of art is. We also received a few examples where we had to determine if it was art in our opinion. The class concluded that for each individual the definition of art is something different and it can never be determined for sure. In the afternoon we went to a museum called “Musée visionnaire” and visited the exhibition about Harald Naegeli. He is a Swiss based artist that became famous trough spraying all over the city. Our tour guide showed us various artworks of him at the ETH campus and other locations in Zürich. We also opened up a discussion about the ethics of his work and if he should be allowed to spray on these locations. We finished the day with looking at some of his art in the underground car park of the ETH University.
