On the last TOK day we delved into the topic technology and the knower. What was their relationship, their connection? We considered multiple questions, for example: Has technology changed the nature of knowledge consumption? And whether technology is beneficial in gaining knowledge about the world or not. Technology is machinery and equipment that resulted from scientific knowledge often for a knowledge-related purpose. We all know AI also known as artificial intelligence and how maybe robots will take over the planet and destroy humans as a species. We discussed the nature of AI and what form of knowing they might posses. We also considered ethics behind certain technology and how the collection of boundless data in computers might affect us and is affecting us personally. Technology can often acces our location, recognize our faces. A lot of information is stored, we see it in our instagram feeds and advertisments shown. Wait I just thought about buying a lawnmower?! Could be a reaction. One could even say our phones know us better than we do ourselves. We also read articles about gender bias in technology which were really interesting. Furthermore, we tested our skills in detecting fake news via an online test and to end the day we watched the Netflix documantary-drama movie Social Dilemma which examines the reprecussions of social media.
